First Impression/ Review| Keratin Treatment

Keratin Treatment

I am no expert or stylist!

Keratin Treatment

A keratin treatment recodes your hair in order to smooth it out, decrease frizz and straighten your hair depending on the physical treatment you get
Keratin, within itself, is a protein that is naturally already in your hair but in order for it to respond; a stylist (hopefully a professional one) applies the keratin product onto your hair and then uses the heat of a blow dryer and flat iron to seal the product and its chemicals in.
The process can depend on the person, the thickness and length, of their hair but usually takes the minimum of 90 minutes and can go as long as 3-4 hours. (Mine took 3). This can also determine the cost of process since they may need to use more or less amount of the product.

                Pros:
-Time Saving Blow out: Your Blow dry time will be shorten tremendously, a good 40% – 60% I read statistically.
-No more Frizz! Or so they say, we’ll take this challenge here in Florida.
-Smoother and straighter hair, need I say more?
Up Keep:
-Try to hold off showering for at least the recommended days by your stylist, I was told two days, websites say 3-4. I might have to take that in mind next time I go since my hair is still not fully at its keratin peak.
- Try to use sodium-sulfate- free shampoo and conditioner, sometimes the stylist will recommend a brand best for it. My Keratin treatment has a specific brand called Kerastraight.
How long does it last?
That also depends on the treatment, some last for a couple of months and others can last for four.
Cons:
-Keratin itself won’t cause your hair to break, however, the flat iron might or will so be careful when using.
-Split ends are notorious with this treatment and after a certain point within the treatment you should get a very small trim to stop them in their tracks.
-The main health concern isn’t the keratin but the formaldehyde within the keratin products, but it also varies the treatment.
-If you have sensitive hair or scalp it may cause minor irritation or slight hair loss but I haven’t personally met a person with this problem. It may cause burning or itchiness but usually the stylist will keep tabs with you.
